cool.click^TM

Bioject developed the cool.click^TM needle-free injection system for delivering Saizen^® recombinant human growth hormone. In some children, naturally occurring growth hormone is absent or is produced in inadequate amounts. In these cases, Saizen^® or growth hormone replacement must be injected to maintain normal growth.

cool.click^TM is a customized version of Bioject's Vitajet^TM 3 needle-free injection system. The system includes customized dosage features to accurately deliver variable doses of Saizen^® and was designed with bright colors to make the injector attractive and non-threatening to children. The cool.click^TM received FDA market clearance for delivering subcutaneous injections of Saizen^® in June, 2000.

The cool.click^TM works by the same principle as all of Bioject's needle-free injection systems: by forcing liquid medication through a tiny orifice that is held against the skin. This creates a very fine, high-pressure stream of medication that penetrates the skin, depositing medication in the tissue beneath.

In a published study, pediatric patients indicated an overall preference for the cool.click^TM needle-free delivery system over traditional syringes (Murray, F.T., et al. Energy Source

The cool.click^TM is energized by an internal spring. Springs are an effective and economical power source for subcutaneous injections, and because they are a reusable, they do not create waste. The spring is compressed by the user by winding the device before each injection in a simple procedure described in the cool.click^TM instruction manual. The spring never comes in contact with the medication.

Just follow these simple steps (Do not attempt to use the cool.click^TM without reading the entire cool.click^TM Instruction Manual):

1. Wind the device to energize the spring
2. Draw medication into the Crystal Check^TM nozzle. Dosage settings are quick and convenient with our easy-to-read, large numbered dosage scale
3. Using firm pressure at the injection site, hold the injector at a 90° angle
4. Press the blue actuator button
